Ways to

Choose how your funds are transferred. Make a transfer to the biggest banks in Mexico, including Banamex, Banorte and BBVA, as well as to supermarkets and check cashing outlets. Alternatively, arrange for your recipient to receive an ATM pay-out.

How to send money in-person,

Make quick and safe transactions in minutes to Mexico from the US. Here’s how:

  • Find your nearest store

  • Provide the recipient details

  • Choose Ria or Western Union to deliver your money transfer

  • Select cash pick-up or bank deposit delivery option

  • Pay the fee* + transfer amount and present your valid photo ID, if required

  • For Ria: The recipient will need the PIN and valid photo ID

  • For Western Union: Tell the recipient the 10-digit Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) and the amount – they’ll also need photo ID.

About

The Mexican Peso was based on Spain’s official currency, the silver dollar and still uses the symbol $ today. It is one of the oldest currencies in North America. Mexico carried on using the peso as its official currency after winning independence from Spain in 1821. As late as 1850, the peso was used as currency in the United States, and was legal tender in both the US and Canada.
